Philosophy of Service
We believe that every believer has been called and empowered by God to a strategic role in the People Loop. While we acknowledge that some roles are more visible than others, we believe that all are of equal value to God and therefore to us. It is the task of leaders to encourage all believers to experience fruitfulness and fulfillment by helping them identify and cultivate their role.
Key Components:
"...called..." God has a purpose for or a calling on every believer in the body of Christ. Technically there is no volunteer army, only believers obedient to their call (I Cor. 12:4-7, I Peter 4:10).
"...empowered..." The Spirit of God empowers every believer to carry out their God-given role in the church through a spiritual gift. A spiritual gift is not earned or given to mark some spiritual achievement but is a gift of grace at the time of salvation for the building up of the entire body (I Cor. 12:12-13, 27).
"...strategic..." No member of Christ's body is unnecessary or of greater or lesser value. Each member is equally necessary and equally valuable to God (I Cor. 12:14-27).
"...leaders..." Those who influence others to pursue God and help them fulfill their God-given role in preparing people.
"...encourage..." Believers need to be motivated and supported to get involved. Many will stay on the sideline without encouragement but will respond positively to proper encouragement.
"...fruitfulness and fulfillment..." The motive is not simply task-oriented. Service is a necessary element for growth and fulfillment as a believer. Believers will experience fruitfulness and fulfillment when they are properly motivated to serve where God desires them to serve.
"...identify and cultivate..." Believers may need help to specifically identify their role in the body. This may come through trial and error or through the affirmation of others. Many fail to realize the diverse roles necessary for the People Loop to work. Training, teaching or mentoring may be necessary to help develop people in particular roles.
