Never in Our Wildest Dreams

One of the many blessings of being involved at LBC for 45 years is having the privilege of seeing God at work in people’s lives from the beginning of their walk with God to the present day.

It is so thrilling to see God put broken lives, broken marriages and families back together. As I look out over the congregation on any given Sunday, I see people-my friends and acquaintances-who have come so far in their spiritual journey. They are not the same people that they once were. They are living examples of the grace and mercy of our faithful God.

Recently we had people submit their testaments of life change and God’s faithfulness on yellow cards. I thought you as the church body would love to have the tiniest of glances into what God’s hand has done here by reading just a few of those testaments:

"As I have grown from a teenager to an adult, God has used LBC as a place of growth, truth, and refreshment in my life. I have moved away and returned to be blessed once again. LBC has been a place of training and respite for and from the world. Thank you for your faithfulness."

"God has continually convicted me on my character and my actions over the years while coming to Berean. My life has continued to change as God has conditioned and molded me to His desires. Thank you for the preaching and worshiping that has helped me hear God clearer."

"There is no way to explain how God has changed my life since attending Berean these past 3 years. He gave me my voice to share God’s grace and mercy. He gave me courage to share my story of hope and healing with other women who have lived with the guilt and shame of abortion. He opened up ministry doors that only He could. His mercies are new every morning. God is faithful, as He forgives and restores us to wholeness."

"I am eight years old. I basically started to follow Christ here."

"Growing up, I always felt drawn to understanding who God is. My questions were not answered until I moved to Nebraska for college. A girl on my dorm floor started coming to Berean. I decided to approach her for answers to my questions. She brought me to Berean. A little while later I accepted Christ into my life. I was also baptized here. Now I walk with Christ each day and look forward to touching people’s lives with the love of Christ overflowing from within me."

"I came to know Christ. My husband came to know Christ. We were both baptized. Our lives are completely changed."

"My marriage was healed. We had filed for divorce. We were two weeks away from court. God is faithful and brought us back together. And we are involved here at Berean."

"God has brought my son back into my life. He has given me a second chance with life. God has brought my family close together, and now we all attend church as a family."

"God has opened my eyes to those around me-in our city and worldwide-who need Him. My compassion has become greater and my need to impact others for Him has become a purpose."

Psalm 80:14 asks God to “look and observe and visit this vine,” this body of believers at LBC, and to “protect what God has planted” here in Lincoln, Nebraska. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine the way God would grow this vine of His planting, but all the honor and glory be to Him forever and ever!
