Taking the Next Steps on Your Spiritual Journey

In the next couple of weeks a new school year begins and the summer “break” will be over.

No doubt you are evaluating what you will be involved in this coming year. There will be many different things competing for your time and attention. In the middle of all the activity that will consume your time in the coming nine months…

…how will you make time to listen to God, become more like Jesus, grow in Christ-likeness, and equip yourself for the ministry God has called you to?

James wrote that Christ-followers are to listen attentively to God and put His truth into practice in our daily lives in order to fully know the blessing of God (JAMES 1:19-25). Paul challenged Timothy to continue to learn the scriptures and pay attention to his mentors so that he would be a man of God, adequate and equipped to accomplish the good works God was giving him to do (II TIM 3:14-17).

Based on these and countless other scriptures, is there any question that spiritual formation and being equipped for life and ministry must be a priority this coming year? Each of us needs to identify what the next steps in our journey to spiritual maturity should be and then make time to get involved in learning and growing alongside others who are on the same journey.

Lincoln Berean provides many opportunities for spiritual formation and growth no matter where you are at in your personal journey. The primary environment for spiritual growth and equipping at LBC is a LifeGroup.

We urge you to get connected, or if you are already in a LifeGroup, make it a priority to fully participate this coming year.
