AdventureLand for Kids Speed Pass

A couple of years ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to take our children to Disney World.

While visiting the various rides and sighting characters, one of the aspects I came to greatly appreciate was Disney’s Fast Pass System. We could even relax a little as, for the hundredth time, we climbed on board the “Peter Pan” ride, one of my son’s favorites.

With this same intention, we desire to diminish some of the time required to check in children for Sunday school; thus, we are introducing AdventureLand Speed Pass. It works quite simply. On a given Sunday, a family will walk up to one of the many automated, computerized kiosks. As obtained through AdventureLand for Kids, they will scan a bar-coded family ID card. The system will then pull up the family’s information, ask which Sunday school hour the family is attending and which family members are checking in, and then display a verification screen for allergies, etc.

By simply touching the screen, one’s selections can be made and the process takes less than a minute from start to finish. Once complete, the kiosk will print a name badge for the child and retrieval receipt for the parent. That’s it; the child is now checked into the class and has a classroom nametag.

The family will then be able to proceed to the child’s classroom and drop off the child; consequently, the parent can proceed to his/her class, place of ministry, or the worship service. When picking up a child, simply hand the teacher the retrieval receipt which will be matched to the child’s badge.

As we alter the check-in/out procedure, we will also be limiting certain areas of the church only to those who have children. While we have never had a safety issue in our classrooms, this is one additional way we believe we can continue to enhance our learning environments for children and families. When a family enters a limited access area, before they are allowed to continue on, they will be checked by an AdventureLand Ranger to verify that they have a check-in badge or a retrieval receipt. Eventually these areas will include A-wing (past the library), B-wing, and lower C-wing.

AdventureLand Speed Pass begins August 24th for the nursery and preschool. Later on this fall, we will be adding elementary and Saturday nights. To learn more about our new check-in process, we invite you to come to one of our brief orientation and question/answer meetings that will be held outside the Chapel at 8:30 a.m.,10:20 a.m., and 12:10 p.m. on Sundays, Aug. 3, 10 and 17.We greatly appreciate the substantial gift given to Lincoln Berean and purposed for this project.
