For This Purpose I Live 2 - The Church Unleashed

Equipping and empowering the people of LBC to love their neighbor, serve others, introduce them to Jesus and help transform our community.

Six months ago we shared with you the LBC vision for the coming year with a glimpse of what we believe God wants to do in the years to come.We’ll share more of that vision come September. But for now, here’s a reminder of what we want our lives to be about as we live for that which lasts forever.

Purpose 2 — The Church Unleashed is not a program of the church, but a movement of the Spirit within the body of Christ here at LBC. It is the next step of faith in our “For This Purpose I Live” journey. Purpose is about equipping and empowering the entire body of Christ at LBC to deploy their passions, talents and experience to love and serve people in Lincoln and around the world in order that they might know Jesus and experience His transforming power.

Purpose 2 begins with our personal commitment to growth and transformation. We seek to be more and more like Jesus. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love God with every fiber of our being and to love our neighbor as ourselves. The scripture says that if we truly love God, we will love our neighbor. Loving our neighbor is not measured by how much we say we love them, but by how we serve them. To make God known by loving others in action and in truth is the mission of every follower of Jesus. The scripture further defines our mission when it identifies our neighbor as anyone who has a need, not just the family that lives next door. This requires us to enlarge our thinking and praying to consider that our mission is much bigger than most of us have imagined. Growing in love for God and others is the true mark of every maturing Christ-follower.

Our goal is that every person at LBC will make a personal commitment to living in the People Loop. We’re calling it Each One Reach One. It is a call to personal involvement in the lives of friends and neighbors who need to know Jesus. It is praying regularly for them and looking for opportunities to serve them and show them the difference Jesus makes in our lives, while intentionally looking for ways to introduce them to Jesus personally.

Who is God calling you to reach out to this year, help them enter into a relationship with Christ, and get in the People Loop? How is it going? Who is praying with you for this person? How is your LifeGroup involved in helping “each one reach one”? Are you taking advantage of the classes that will help you more compassionately and sincerely reach out? Let’s continue to pray that God will use us to introduce thousands of individuals to Jesus Christ this year and every year to follow. It is our mission.
