Change...Not a Bad Thing

The shape of the Christian Leadership College is ever changing.

About the time we get comfortable and settle into a routine, God changes things. Much of this change involves people. It is with some sadness that we’ll lose some members of the CLC family. Four students are leaving us this year…but this is not a bad thing. We rejoice that Calvin Carr, Ryan Dudney, Pat Meyers and Darin Scott will graduate this weekend. Nine months ago they entered the CLC and now, just as we were comfortable having them as part of our tight-knit family, it is time for a change. God is moving them on. While we will miss them, we delight that God has led them to the CLC and has used their time here to equip them for effective Christian leadership. We also rejoice in another change-the addition of new students for this fall. We look eagerly to developing new relationships and training more men and women for Christian leadership.

After successfully launching a marketplace emphasis last year, the CLC will once again experience a changein its academic program. Beginning this fall, students may pursue a Certificate of Christian Leadership with a mission’s emphasis. In cooperation with Avant Ministries, the CLC has established a mission’s track that will help prepare the short-cycle church planting teams Lincoln Berean Church will be sending out. This program will also serve as a solid foundation for anyone going into missions who needs training and equipping for cross-cultural missions work. This change means the challenge of offering some new courses and developing training and mentoring to fit the needs of those preparing for Christian leadership in a cross-cultural setting.

Through all the change, some things remain constant and serve as the CLC’s anchor. First, the support of Lincoln Berean Church. We are so thankful for people such as you who faithfully and regularly pray for the CLC, and for those of you who generously provide financial support through your giving to Lincoln Berean Church and by giving to the Curt Lehman  Scholarship Fund. Without you, we could not exist. Second, the faithfulness of God. He never seems to let us get too comfortable and stuck in a routine. He keeps stretching us, forcing us to trust Him. But as things change, God’s faithfulness remains unchanging. Without Him, we could not exist. On this weekend of celebrating our second year of training and equipping today’s leaders with a Christian worldview, we are mindful of our anchor through times of change — God’s faithfulness manifested in the committed support of His people here at Lincoln Berean Church.

Thank you, LBC! Thank you, God!
