Top 10 Reasons NOT to serve at LBC
10. I don’t want to commit to anything…it’s my day of rest.
9. I’m waiting for someone to ask me.
8. There are 4,536 other people here. Why me?
7. I’ve got too much on my mind today…maybe next week.
6. I’m afraid…and I’m probably not good enough anyway.
5. I have such a busy schedule already…I don’t have time.
4. Nothing appeals to me.
3. I come on Saturdays…don’t think there’s anything to do at that time.
2. It doesn’t appear that they need anybody…things look like they’re going fine.
1. I’ve heard there is going to be this massive Ministry Fair in August…I’ll just wait until then.
What’s your reason?
In Max Lucado’s book entitled Cure for the Common Life, he talks about the fact that you were born “prepacked”. As God planned and viewed your entire life, He gave you a unique assignment and the tools needed to get it done. “Before I made you in your mother’s womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work.” Jeremiah 1:5.
YOU are an original—with an assigned plan for service. There are no “backup yous”. God “packed” you on purpose for a purpose…and that purpose is to represent and magnify Him. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
This is exciting! God chose you, He designed you, He equipped you, He called you and He has plans for you…to serve. Doesn’t look like there is room for any excuses!
A Ministry Fair is coming to LBC on August 12/13 and 19/20. This will be a time when you can visit booths representing every ministry area and serving opportunity at LBC, as well as serving opportunities with some faith-based community organizations. This could be the time when God’s plan for you is revealed and your toolbox is opened. Serve...and feel God’s pleasure.
