Snapshots . . . LBC Youth
Learn what God is doing in the lives of some youth at LBC.
“Right now in my life I am learning to let God take my life and trust Him with the outcome. For me this was something that was extremely tough because it meant that I had to let things go. After everything was let go, so to speak, I felt like I had a relationship that I had never had before. It’s amazing! I am learning new things every day and growing closer to God and those people that He has placed in my life. So that’s pretty much cool.”

“Youth Ministry is an opportunity to be amazed by the depth of understanding many of the young adults have. I gain an appreciation and understanding for the stresses and struggles that they deal with on a daily basis. This equips me as a parent to provide direction and support from a biblical perspective to my own children. The youth are a constant source of encouragement. As adults we tend to have a myopic viewpoint on many areas of our lives, but the youth see the world from a wild-angle lens and they have the strength, the faith and the ability to change the world. What could be greater than having the opportunity to change a life, while at the same time you realize they are changing yours?”

“I love working with middle school students because they have such a passionate and humble love for Jesus. They have a faith and love for the Lord that many adults lose amongst the to-dos of life. I have really enjoyed spending time with my group of girls - be it in Bible study or mall scavenger hunts! They inspire me in my own walk with the Lord.”

“I've realized lately that God can teach me a lot through being a leader. The past two weeks that we've had Freshaire I've come home feeling incredibly re-energized and refreshed. You just know that that is God working in ALL of our hearts, not just the youth. He's been teaching me that even though I'm a leader for Freshaire, I still have a lot of room to grow and plenty of things to learn.”

“My life group is great because of the trust that is built up between all of us. They are all in eighth grade and a lot of drama is going on, but they know that we are praying for them and they know that they can call Anna or me at any hour to talk. It's amazing and I wouldn't give it up for anything!!!!”

“My walk with Christ started at a young age. All of my life I have done the church thing. You know how it is, you go to church every Sunday, you read your Bible every morning and you do what your parents and your Sunday school teachers have taught you to do. But it never really is your own. Well, my faith really became my own when I was fourteen. That’s when I started to ask my own questions about my faith and I got answers. But it wasn’t enough; I wanted to know how I could do more for Him. So I started getting more active in my youth group. You have to understand that I was already pretty active in my youth group but again I wanted more. So I decided to get involved in the student leadership. That’s where I got to meet some real great godly people that really challenged me to live my faith every day and not be afraid to show it. After about a year of being involved in student leadership, one of my youth pastors and a couple of friends challenged me to be a junior high LifeGroup leader. So I decided to do it. Man, was I in for a surprise. The kids that I had weren’t the most well-behaved group. So I had to learn how to be a good leader and at the same time I had to learn how to be their friend without losing my role as their leader. One thing I really enjoyed as a leader was that when I was preparing for my group, I was also learning more about God and also drawing closer to Him through the preparation of my lesson. The main thing I have learned is that God can do great things if you trust Him.”
