Singles Summer Class

Monday, July 13, 7:00PM - 9:00PM

No class Monday, August 3.
In his book Waking the Dead, Eldredge uses his broad knowledge of the Bible, mythology and modern Christian writing to make this point: Conflicts and challenges in this world will put us to sleep if we don’t pay close attention to them. Engaging with the world releases the vitality and energy of the heart that is our birthright.

Class meets at 7201 Rebel Drive, Lincoln.
$10/optional book.

Casting Crowns in Concert

Friday, August 21, 7:00PM

In an unprecedented six-year span with nearly 4.5 million career album sales, a GRAMMY Award, an American Music Award, 23 Dove Awards and 8 chart-topping radio singles, Casting Crowns remains focused on discipleship through music. With lead singer and songwriter Mark Hall’s 18 years in youth ministry, the band’s message remains rooted in the student services he has led on a weekly basis since 2001, at Eagles Landing Baptist church near Atlanta. The songs start as messages for his 400 teenagers and their families. With boldly honest, hard-hitting lyrics, the band continues to challenge, strengthen and pour into the body of Christ, giving listeners a fresh, relevant perspective on loving God and loving people.

High School: Love Lincoln

July 12-20

This summer, high school students are joining together to make a difference right here in Lincoln. This will be a week packed full of beautiful opportunities to love this city by working alongside nonprofits, leading younger students and having a blast each evening. We call it Love Lincoln because we love our city and want to be a positive impact in our own community while we experience the rewards of giving back.

We'll be staying at Union College. Each morning and afternoon, we will work with younger students in assisted living facilities and with ministries designed to help needy people and families within our city. In the evening, we'll head out to do something fun (bowling, laser tag, pool party, etc.) and cap off our evenings with a devotional and worship.

After our week of service, we'll head out for a special trip to celebrate our week and the work God has done through and in us. We will be taking an unforgettable trip to Chicago where we will trek up to the Willis Tower, enjoy Millennium Park, tour the city, devour Chicago dogs and deep dish pizza, and much more.

Love Lincoln has been instrumental in impacting the lives of our students, creating unforgettable memories and helping them get connected into our community. We hope you will join us!

This mission trip is open to students that just completed 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades.

Cost: $250 before June 15, $300 after June 14. Cost includes everything except money for four fast food meals on the Chicago trip.

Tim Hawkins: Live

Friday, April 1, 2016, 7:00PM

Tim Hawkins has been meticulously crafting a no-bones, no-bull comedy show that entertains the entire family. His approach to comedy can best be described as one part gifted and two parts twisted. And the three parts set him apart. His stand-up is surgical and honed to perfection, bringing to light the brokenness of human nature while marveling in its hilarity. In his own gracious words, "If you can't laugh at yourself, laugh at other people." His musical dexterity and knack for parody stand on their own, as he deftly rattles off everything from Dylan to Aldean to brilliantly weird original songs.

Agora Fellowship

New Semester Begins September 2015

Leadership for the Common Good

In ancient Greek, the agora was a gathering place in the middle of a city that served as the center for commerce, politics, education, the arts, religion, and civic life. What happened in the agora shaped the society as a whole. Not much has changed. Today the ideas and practices that flow from the academies, churches/temples/synagogues, businesses, houses of government, and studios profoundly change and shape the society in which we live.

The Fellowship equips young professionals to integrate their Christian commitment and vocation enabling them to impact their professions for God’s kingdom and to be agents of cultural renewal.

The Fellowship is a nine-month intensive program designed to provide young professionals with a solid base of theological, ethical, and cultural understanding. Through weekly readings and discussions, monthly gatherings, and one-on-one mentoring with a mature person in their profession, Fellows will develop as influential leaders in their professions who can serve effectively as ambassadors for God’s kingdom and contribute to the common good locally, regionally, nationally, and even internationally.

The Fellowship addresses six key questions. During their nine-months, Fellows will wrestle with:
· What is God doing? (Theology)
· What am I to be doing? (Calling)
· For what purpose am I to be doing it? (Goal)
· What environment am I doing it in? (Culture)
· What can I accomplish? (Influence)
· How am I to be doing it? (Ethics)

Who should apply?
Men and women, 25-35 years of age, working in fields including higher education, law, medicine, the sciences, media, arts, government, and business/finance. The applicant should (1) be currently employed full-time, (2) have at least a year of working experience in his or her profession, (3) possess clear and strong Christian commitment and character, and (4) desire to use his or her position of leadership to influence the culture for God’s kingdom and the common good.

Fellowship Requirements
· Complete weekly readings
· Attend and participate in weekly discussions over the readings
· Attend monthly gatherings to meet with guest speakers or go on excursions in and around the city of Lincoln
· Complete 2-3 written assessments over the course of the nine months

· Build a theological foundation in work, culture, and faith
· Become aware of the cultural and civic needs unique to the Lincoln community
· Develop close relationships with other young Christian professionals committed to influencing the culture through their vocations
· Opportunities for follow-up training and resources after completion of the program

Annual book fee of approximately $200
Deadline to apply is August 10.
