worship arts

Bringing glory to God through the arts, inspiring people to live authentic lives of worship.

Mike Stelzer

Mike is the worship pastor at Lincoln Berean. He absolutely loves spending time with his amazing wife Katie and little boy Noah. They love shooting hoops in the driveway. One of Mike’s life goals is to learn to beat box and sing at the same time.

Dan Roesch

Dan was hired over 10 years ago to create a church database system and maybe do some videos on the side. Hundreds of video projects later, he still doesn’t have any idea how databases work. He enjoys playing Barbies with his three little princesses and being led in worship by his beautiful wife Natalie.

Carey Helmink

Carey is passionate about worship, her husband, her four grown children, teenagers, teaching, and coffee. She also has the gift of sarcasm.

Jenna Preston

Jenna has been on staff at Lincoln Berean part time since June 2008. She works in video production. The most rewarding aspect of her job is getting to hear so many stories of God’s powerful transformation in people’s lives and getting to edit them into a video that shares those amazing stories with the body as a whole. Fun facts: She’s lived in 7 states and can list all 50 states in alphabetical order from memory, she once completed a 7 mile race in a superhero costume, and if she could invent a new word it would be funtastic.

Jeremy Smith

Jeremy directs the orchestra and instrumental groups. He loves seeing others use their musical gifts in worship. He married his best friend Sarah in 2008 and they are both currently working on their masters in Marriage & Family Counseling. Jeremy enjoys teaching, worshiping on the violin, doing science experiments and romantic candle-lit dinners with his wife. He teaches Japanese and Ballroom dance at Southwest High School.

Lisa Burke

Lisa loves worship, enjoys connecting with people, and being in the “know”. She is married to David, and they have 3 fabulous kids... Dylan, Riley, & Jocelyn. Lisa first got involved at Lincoln Berean by volunteering in the Choir, she was asked to fill in for the Admin Assistant role “temporarily”, until they could find someone “qualified”! And now, still working on becoming qualified, Lisa fills this role permanently…and hopes not to be found out.

Corey Simmons

Corey dropped out of college, washed out as a bus driver, and eventually ended up here. Things have never been the same since.

Jim Hines

Jim recently retired from UNL and is on staff with us doing set building and tech maintenance as well as working with Campus Operations. One of Jim’s favorite quotes from his grandkids is “grandpa, your breath stinks!” Needless to say, he is considering drinking something sweet instead of a double espresso before they come over.

Janis Faller

Janis stands amazed just by being part of such a gifted bunch of people! Having no musical abilities whatsoever, she is living vicariously through those that do. Janis helps prepare for Wednesday rehearsals and weekend worship services. She is wife of Jeff, mom of Aly and Andy. Mother-in-law of Shawn and Grams of Owynn. Plus has 3 Jack Russells.

Robin Smith

Robin has been in the Worship Arts Ministry since before time began. She really is that old. Mostly she helps coordinate details of the services, but her alter ego spends her work time laughing at Corey's bad jokes. She has an amazing family which includes husband, kids, grandkids, 2 dogs and 4 chickens. She claims that she can speak to all the birds in her yard and that they answer her when no one else is around. She says the birds were an enormous help to her in completing her life story. The rest of the WAM staff is working hard to help Robin get her medication adjusted.
