How do we know if this project is what God wants us to do?
The focus needs to be on the purpose of the Church and prayer. God has called us to reach lost people and present them complete in Christ; To do that we must have adequate facilities. God sacrificed His Son to seek and to save the lost. It should then come as no surprise that He’d expect us to sacrifice to carry out His purpose. We, as church leaders, believe God is leading us to take this next step of faith. If this is true, God will lead all of us together as a body to take this step of faith. Therefore, we all must pray and seek God’s leading. Since God is not double-minded He will lead us in unity to accomplish His purpose. We are praying this will be evident when the three year pledge cards are totaled and announced March 6,7. back to top

What is our part in this project?
Each of us needs to be in prayer seeking God’s leading. We always know where God leads God provides. Then, by faith, seek to be obedient to what God is asking you to sacrificially give to this project over the next three years. Remember, this must be above your regular giving to the church. back to top

Is there a certain pledge amount that we need to see to go forward with the auditorium?
Not exactly. It’s really hard to simply set a number and live or die by that number. Certainly if the pledge cards come back with only 2 or 3 million in pledges we’ll need to carefully consider what our next step is to be. We would expect something over 7 million as a faith goal and 10 million as a great faith response. back to top

Why are we launching a north church in the middle of a building campaign?
The north church plant was never intended to address our overcrowding. It would be a short term solution at best. The vision for church planting has always been driven by a belief we need more churches in Lincoln to reach our city. Therefore, we’re planting a church in north Lincoln for the same reason we’re building an auditorium, to better accomplish the purpose Christ has given us as His Church. back to top

Does my 3 year pledge cover India, North Church and the leadership college as well as the new buildings?
No. The 3 year pledge is simply addressing the new auditorium and youth complex. The India project runs through the missions fund and gifts need to be designated for such. The North Church will be covered out of the general fund and the students will cover a majority of the costs for the leadership college. back to top

If I am planning on going with the north church plant should I still make a pledge?
Yes, the launch will not happen immediately. Everyone should pledge as if he/she is going to be around all three years. When the launch occurs your regular giving should go to the north church but your pledge to this project could be completed as planned as you way of supporting the bigger vision of this project. back to top

When will the new 22,000 square foot youth complex be completed?
We are hopeful it will be done in the fall of 2004. This means done to the extent that college worship hour can meet in the complex. It will not be fully completed until we are in the new auditorium. back to top

When will the auditorium be completed?
The start date is a little uncertain but if all goes well the new auditorium would take between 18 months and 2 years to build. Obviously then, the sooner it’s begun the better. back to top

What is our current debt?
We currently owe approximately $2.2 million in commercial debt from the D wing. This debt has been negotiated down to 4.75% interest making the payments very reasonable. The plan would be to fold that debt into the greater project and try to eliminate it as one debt as quickly as possible. There is also approximately $350,000 of debt in personal notes. back to top

Is there still a debt reduction fund?
Not really. Any money given for debt reduction after January 2004 will automatically go toward the "For This Purpose I Live" campaign. In a very real sense, this is reducing the amount of debt we will incur in this project. back to top

Will this project affect our missions budget?
All research indicates that as people get on board with the purpose of the church all funds benefit. With each building project in the past the long term effect has been a significant increase in missions giving. The congregation in the new auditorium several years from now could easily give a million dollars a year to missions. back to top

Will anyone track my pledge or inform me if I get behind?
No, your pledge will be kept private just as your giving is. No one will ever track your giving or contact you if you fall behind. What you give is between you and God. The pledge cards provide a way for us to affirm God’s leading in taking this step of faith. We need to know God is leading us together to sacrifice for His purpose. back to top

What will we do at the end of the three year pledge drive?
We will assess where we are in the process and prepare for the next steps of faith. Hopefully the new auditorium will be completed and our growing congregation can eliminate the debt as quickly as possible to move ahead with finishing building space that will be unfinished in this phase of the project. We will finish both the youth complex and the auditorium as we are able. back to top

What if I want to give stocks, bonds, land or other investments?
