So You're Planning a Wedding?

Because God places a very high view on marriage (as revealed in the Bible), we do too. The marriage relationship is the closest thing on earth to the intimacy God wants with us for eternity.

Our philosophy of marriage and family requires us to do all that we can to get your marriage off to the best start possible. Perhaps no other decision in life has such long-term consequences, and it is often made with so little preparation. We would like you to focus on preparing for your marriage, not just planning a wedding.

Here are a few things you might need to know that will help you in planning a wedding with us.

Premarital Classes

We believe it is essential that people be taught the basics of relationships and marriage through a premarital class before entering into this lifetime commitment. We also know it requires work for a marriage to remain healthy and growing, so we offer a variety of resources to enrich marriages.

Starting Your Story – A Premarital Class for Young Couples
Instructors: Pastor Kyle Helmink and guest presenters
A class for engaged couples and couples considering engagement, this course covers topics such as family of origin, finances, spirituality, conflict resolution and personality differences and helps you build a foundation for a strong marital relationship. Completion of this course is required in order to be married by an LBC pastor or to be married at LBC. Couples who are starting a second marriage that involves children/stepchildren and face the challenge of blending families are encouraged to register for the Built To Last premarital class (call for schedule). Attending a class 6 months prior to your wedding is strongly recommended.

Built to Last - For Couples Considering Remarriage
Using discussions, interactions and personal assessments, this class will help couples preparing for second marriages build a healthy relationship to ensure a lasting and fulfilling marriage.  This class covers topics such as communication, conflict resolution, roles and expectations, finances, past relationships and blending families.  This class is required for those considering remarriage and desiring to be married at LBC or by an LBC pastor.  Attending a class 6 months prior to your wedding is strongly recommended.
